Metabolism is a core event in cells and organisms. With rapid technological advancements, significant progress has been made in the field of cellular metabolism research. Our understanding of cellular metabolism has expanded to include various aspects such as development, inflammation, immunity, and the microenvironment. The metabolic homeostasis of an organism relies on communication and interaction between cells, tissues, and organs, particularly the important metabolic organs such as the liver, adipose tissue, skeletal muscle, and pancreas, to adapt to dynamic changes in external nutrients. Recent studies have shown that metabolic disturbances are the underlying cause of various diseases, including diabetes and cancer. Therefore, it is of great importance to gain a deep understanding of the regulatory mechanisms of inter-organ interactions in maintaining metabolic homeostasis and their functions in the progression of diseases, as well as to develop targeted metabolic intervention strategies.
To promote the comprehensive development of cellular metabolism and academic exchanges, the 3rd Academic Conference of the Cell Metabolism Subdivision of the Chinese Society for Cell Biology, hosted by the Chinese Society for Cell Biology, was successfully held in Xi'an, the ancient capital, from October 13th to 15th, 2023.
The theme of this conference was “Inter-Organ Interactions and Regulation of Metabolic Homeostasis,” which included three main topics: 1) Physiological regulation of inter-organ interactions, 2) Regulation of inter-organ interactions in metabolic homeostasis and diseases, and 3) Metabolic homeostasis and targeted interventions.
The conference invited outstanding scientists from relevant fields in Asia to give academic presentations, aiming to provide a platform for researchers active in the field of cell biology to discuss research collaborations. Additionally, the conference featured exhibitions of biochemical reagents, laboratory instruments, and equipment related to life science research. China Gate Scientific was honored to be invited to participate and represented Lucid Scientific and Sable System to showcase the Resipher cell oxygen consumption monitoring system, Promethion Core small animal metabolic system, and Promethion Whole-room indirect calorimeters system.
